Eagle Academy Class of 2009
Entering its seventh consecutive year, the Eagle Academy has proven to be both popular and successful in either giving a head-start to Star Scouts or catching up those who are faced with running out of time before their 18th birthday. Scouts who have 1 or 2 of the 6 badges offered will still benefit by going through this program. Due to the difficulty of some of these badges and skills being taught, Scouts who attend the academies must be at least 14 years old, and hold the rank of Star or Life Scout. Our Eagle Academy Faculty consists of visiting guest experts and some of our best in-house counselors. Classes will run independently of the normal camp schedule, with the exception of meal time and campfire programs, and are expected to last all day, and in some cases into the evenings. The Eagle Academy offers Citizenship in the Community, Nation, and World, as well as Personal Management, Communications, and Personal Fitness. Additionally, there will be a session on planning and carrying out an Eagle Service Project. In order to successfully complete all of the badges while in camp, there is some required pre-camp work that needs to be accomplished. For instance, two of the badges require a 90 day fitness or savings plan. Contact the PA Dutch Council Office for additional information.
MERIT BADGE PRE-REQUISITES: The following table shows which requirements should be completed or started prior to attending camp, as well as any special materials that you may need to bring. Additionally, all Scouts should bring a notebook or journal, and a pen or pencil. Trips that are required for Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, and Communications should be completed prior to camp. A note signed form a parent and/or Scoutmaster will suffice as proof of those trips.
