Boat House Construction- 2009

New for the 2009 camping season will be a large building & deck overlooking the waterfront. The building will house all of the PFD's Paddles, and other equipment used at the waterfront. In the off-season the Kayaks and Sailboats will be stored inside as well. The building will have an office area and a changing room for the staff. Facing the lake will be a huge covered deck that will be sure to become a favorite hangout on hot days. Leaders and Scouts alike can come down and sit on the deck to observe all the waterfront activities. the pavilion/deck portion of the building will also serve as an outdoor classroom and meeting space.  The waterfront itself will also get a facelift as a new fence is installed around the perimeter, and new boat racks are installed.

The project is one of the final phases of projects from the Timeless Values Capital Campaign. The building was designed by Doug Knol (Aquatics Director) and Dave Matterness (Camp Ranger). The building is being constructed by G.P. Harris Construction of Jonestown, PA.  Venture Crew #2 assisted with the demolition of the old facilities, and relocated the shed to the Campcraft area for re-purposing. Construction is scheduled for completion by May 1, 2009, just in time for summer camp!
