In the recent past, Ryan spent considerable time volunteering and then was employed as the Manager for an international refugee camp. Ryan is active in his church and is employed as an Elementary School teacher in Harrisburg. Ryan can be reached at his email: ryangibsonstewart@hotmail.com . Please join us in welcoming him as Camp Director for the Bashore Scout Reservation. A MESSAGE FROM RYAN:
"Hello. My name is Ryan Stewart and this will be my
first year as the camp director of Camp Bashore. I am inheriting the role from
Dave Matterness who has acted in the position for close to ten years now. I
have big shoes to fill, and am looking forward to this opportunity.
I am an Eagle Scout and was inducted into the Order
of the Arrow as a teenager. I have remained active in Scouting throughout my
adulthood, and help lead a troop of Scouts in Lebanon, PA. Over the course of
the years, I have attended many Scout camps, and been a counselor and leader
at quite a few. I managed a refugee camp of 1,700 people in Kosovo for just
under a year. I look forward to bringing my experience to Bashore, and am
anxious to continue to learn and grow.
I have a wife and two children, and a third on the
way. I will be residing at camp full time during the summer, and my
family will be commuting back and forth to home. During the off season, I am
an elementary teacher; I am also active in my church.
I am looking forward to a great year at camp this
summer!"
