In the year 1947, John S. Bashore, a local merchant and philanthropist donated a 250 acre farm to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Lebanon County for the purpose of establishing a permanent camp. The original farm included 140 wooded and 110 cleared acres with a house, barn, and several other outbuildings. There was an excellent stream flowing through the property that would later be dammed up to form a lake. |
