Venture
Dedicated to the preservation and improvement of program and property of the Bashore Scout Reservation since 1999.
Venture Crew #2 is primarily made up of Staff and Alumni of Camp Bashore. We hold regular fundraisers in order to purchase program equipment and improve the camp facilities. Recently our crew renovated the volleyball court by enlarging it, adding sand, new posts and net, as well as night-lighting. We built a new welcome center in the parking lot, added electricity and a latrine to the Staff site, and have finished up renovations to the "Old Black Joe" homestead- a project we have undertaken over the past 4 years to completely rebuild the dilapidated shack of a run-away slave named Joseph Johns who lived on part of the camp property in the 19th century. In 2007 Crew 2 purchased a new Soft Pretzel display for the Trading Post and also donated materials and labor to build a new deck/porch area for the President's Room on the Barn. Our crew meets regularly once per month. We hold several work-weekends, as well as several fun activities. Annually we participate in the Horseshoe Trail District Mall Show, as well as supporting the Friends of Camp Bashore weekend, staffing the program areas.
