Ranger Dave's Wish List:

It often amazes me, the generosity of businesses, organizations, and individuals who willingly give of their time and resources to maintain and improve our camp.  Being part of a non-profit organization means that sometimes there are projects that are often put on hold as we strive to be good stewards of the budget, materials, and equipment we have on hand. There have been many instances where after purchasing materials or tools, a volunteer will say "I wish I had known you needed that- I just got rid of one" or "My company could have donated that" and even "Oh- I could have gotten you a much better price on that". All of which reminds me that the donations and discounts are out there- just for the asking.

So that got me thinking about advertising our needs on the website. These items are all things that are genuine needs and also items that would make work a bit more efficient. Check the list and see if there is anything that you can help us acquire at no charge, or at a great discount.  The donations and help we get not only keeps the costs of camp operations down, but enables us to make improvements to camp on a much faster timetable.

Some of you may think I am being unrealistic and overreaching on some items- but hey, it never hurts to ask. Even if you don't have the means to help right now, you may find yourself in a conversation tomorrow with someone who can!  If you have something to donate to the camp, please contact Ranger Dave at rangerdave@campbashore.org or call the camp at (717) 865-4583.

bulletBackhoe / Skid Loader - I am looking for a piece of heavy equipment to help maintain the camp roads and also for digging water lines and other jobs that our current tractor cannot handle. Appearance is not important as long as it is in good mechanical condition. Backhoe attachment for 3-point hitch would work as well.
bulletBucket / Utility Truck - This would be used to trim dead branches that overhang the building roofs, roads, utility lines, and tent platforms. It could also be used to change light bulbs in security lights, painting high places, and maintaining the camp-owned electrical and phone wires.
bulletJohn Deere Gator / 4x4 Utility Cart - This will be used for easier access to campsites and remote areas of camp, lessening the wear and tear on the camp truck.
bullet2-Post Hydraulic / Electric Vehicle Lift - Above-ground type for maintaining camp vehicles in new shop.
bulletBuilding Materials - We are always on the look-out for the following items:
bulletBrown Shingles and Felt Paper for various Adirondack shelters, Latrines, and other small structures.
bulletDark Brown paint or Stain- to paint the many structures around camp. CALL FOR DETAILS!
bulletLumber - Plywood, 2x4's, 2x6's Pressure Treated Decking and framing lumber for tent platforms
bulletFRP Panel- (white plastic panels used on commercial bathroom & kitchen walls)
bulletElectrical Wiring / Supplies
bulletPlumbing Fixtures, Pipe & Fittings (PVC, CPVC, Copper)
bulletStone (2-A modified) or similar stones / shale for repairing the roads and parking areas.
bulletSnow Blower- For clearing walkways around barn, cabins and latrines.
bulletRestaurant / Snack Bar Equipment:
bulletCommercial Refrigerators - 2 or 3 door units to replace one in Dining Hall Kitchen, and one in Trading Post.
bulletPizza Warmer Display - for trading post
bulletCarpeting- currently looking for a 15x16 piece of indoor/outdoor or Berber for the Brown Lodge Annex.
bulletANYTHING ELSE?? Maybe there is something you have, that may be useful to us in the future. Or else it may be something that we could sell or barter with another camp to get something we immediately need. Contact Ranger Dave- it never hurts to ask!

Donation Acceptance Policy:

All donations or "gifts in kind" must first be approved by the Camp Ranger and the Council.  Some very well-meaning people will often drop off items they think we need here at camp.  Many times these things are beyond their useful life, are the wrong thing, or are in worse condition than what we are hoping to replace. This results in added disposal charges, which really does not help us.  Please do not just bring the items and dump them off and assume we can use it.

If you have something to donate to the camp, please contact Ranger Dave at rangerdave@campbashore.org or call the camp at (717) 865-4583 so we can determine if it is something that meets our needs.
